Building on this strategic vision, AlphaESS officially introduced the Shine 30·30·30 initiative, jointly unveiled with Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The initiative was presented by Max, alongside Ayoade Gboyega, Executive Director of Corporate Services at REA, marking a significant milestone in AlphaESS’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, skills development, and community empowerment in Africa.

Shine 30·30·30: A Holistic ESG Commitment

The Shine 30·30·30 initiative reflects AlphaESS’s belief that sustainable energy transformation must be inclusive, people-centered, and future-oriented. The program sets out two clear, measurable goals to be achieved by 2030:

Train 30% of Nigeria’s electrician workforce, strengthening technical capacity and safety standards nationwide

Donate televisions and essential learning equipment to 30 schools and hospitals, supporting education and healthcare infrastructure in underserved communities

Together, these commitments demonstrate that AlphaESS’s role extends beyond supplying energy systems — it is about investing in people, skills, and long-term social impact.

 

Recognised by REA for its contribution to local capacity building, Shine 30·30·30 aligns closely with Nigeria’s national education, workforce development, and renewable energy objectives.

Why Workforce Development Matters in Nigeria

Nigeria’s renewable energy ambitions face a critical human-capital gap:

  • Only around 50% of the skilled workforce required for the power sector is currently available
  • The Federal Government plans to create 10,000 additional renewable energy jobs in the coming years
  • A shortage of trained electricians directly impacts system quality, safety, and long-term reliability

By focusing on structured training and professional development, AlphaESS aims to help build a stronger, safer, and more capable clean-energy workforce—particularly for off-grid, mini-grid, and rural electrification projects.

  • Over 20,000 communities across Nigeria still lack electricity
  • More than 85 million Nigerians live without access to power
  • Households experience an average of 6.7 blackouts per week, with outages lasting around 12 hours each
